Are you an Energy Potato?

Save Money On your Energy Bills

In the UK 4 out of 10 households do not look for ways to save energy in their home, which is quite surprising when energy bills are rising.  As Brits, are we too lazy to make our homes more energy efficient?  Well if we are, we are throwing 6.2 billion pounds worth of energy into thin air, that means that if you are one of the 4, you could be saving upto £592 per year by getting energy fit, instead of being an energy potato!

It doesn't take much effort or money to save money on Energy Bills, there are some small steps you can take to make your home more energy efficient.

Did you know that the Government are helping homes become more energy efficient by offering Home Insulation Grants to help towards the cost of home insulation?  Even if you are not on benefits, whatever your income, home insulation grants are widely available to help you with the installation of Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation into your home.  Just by having the correct Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation installed into your home you could save upto £265 per year!

Some other Energy Saving Tips from Viscount Insulation that even the laziest energy potato can put in place:

  • Turn Lights off when you leave a room
  • Turn your thermostat down on your central heating
  • Always do a full load of washing rather than half full ones.
  • Shut your curtains at dusk to keep the heat in the room rather than escaping through windows
  • Get a new Jacket for your hotwater tank, an old water tank jacket could be letting heat escape therefore having to use more energy to heat up your water.
  • Is your water too hot, turn down the heat, your water temperature should be set at 60 degrees.
  • Only fill your kettle to how much you need
  • Turn your appliances off, don't leave them on standby as they are still using energy.
  • Make sure taps are turned off properly or a dripping tap is fixed, dripping taps can waste energy and water.

These energy changes are not hard work and if any don't cost a lot of money, so stop being an Energy Potato and become Energy Fit!
