Loft insulation grants are available to help you afford to keep your home warm. They can cover between 45% and 75% of the cost of installation, and will cover the entire cost if you meet certain criteria. Even if you already have loft insulation, it is likely to be below the recommended 270mm thickness, and so you could still save money by 'topping up' the insulation.
By installing loft insulation where there was none before, homeowners can expect to have recovered the installation cost within three years. With a grant, this would be even sooner.
You are eligible for free loft insulation if you are:
- Over 70
- If the state pension is your main source of income or you receive:
- Attendance Allowance
- Council Tax Benefit
- Disability Living allowance
- Housing Benefit
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Child Tax Credit (maximum household income of £15,000)
- Working Tax Credit (maximum household income of £15,000)
